After the poor performance of congress in the lok sabha elections congress chief Rahul Gandhi announced his resignation from the post of congress chief. Although the resignation was upheld with senior congress leaders asking Rahul to continue as congress chief.
But on Thursday Rahul Gandhi repeated his decision and also said that he will not be involved in the process of selecting the next chief.”I won’t decide who will be the next Congress president,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi’s decision comes as a big blow for the already struggling Congress party, with several senior leaders asking him to recall his decision. The Congress Working Committee in the meeting on May 25, in which Rahul Gandhi first expressed his decision, had unanimously rejected his offer to quit.
Gandhi even rejected to become the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha. The Congress working committee had to pick five-time MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury for the post. His statement on Thursday has now made it clear that Gandhi has made up hi mind and will stand with it.
